You can't talk about cannabis history without bowing down to the original Blueberry developed by DJ Short in the 1970s. That man literally chased exotic sativas across the globe, mixing Highland Thai, Purple Thai, and a chunky Afghani indica to create a masterpiece. Over the decades, those genetics have been passed around, backcrossed, and tweaked by almost every breeder on earth. Sumo Seeds out of Holland took their own swing at this legendary lineage, and they’ve definitely put a distinct Dutch spin on the classic formula. Instead of the stretchy, finicky sativa traits of the 70s, Sumo’s interpretation leans hard into the heavy, resin-producing indica side of the family.

When you run Sumo's Blueberry genetics—especially in crosses like their Berries & Cheese—you immediately notice how they bred for modern indoor convenience. The plants stay relatively squat and stack incredibly tight, dense colas that are heavily prone to throwing gorgeous purple and blue hues if you drop the nighttime temps late in flower. A buddy of mine ran a few of these under LEDs last year, and the resin production was off the charts.
