Animal Mints by Seed Junky

Type indicaCross Animal Cookies × SinMint Cookies

When you talk about the backbone of modern cannabis, you can't have the conversation without bringing up Animal Mints. Bred by JBeezy at Seed Junky Genetics out in Southern California, this cross is a masterclass in modern poly-hybridizing. He took Animal Cookies—which brings that dense, Fire OG structure—and smashed it into SinMint Cookies (Forum Cut GSC x Blue Power). Essentially, he doubled down on the legendary Forum Cut traits while massively improving the yield and frost. This original cut became the foundational parent for dozens of today’s biggest hype strains, including Kush Mints, The Soap, and the almighty Wedding Cake.

Growing this cut is definitely not a beginner's game. Since it was initially passed around strictly as an elite clone, real cultivators quickly realized she’s a demanding plant that requires an expertly dialed-in environment. She grows with a medium stretch and incredibly tight internodal spacing. The buds form into these rock-hard, almost twisted shapes that can take on a distinct bluish-purple tint during the flush. You've got to run her a full 8 to 10 weeks to really see the resin glands swell, but when they do, the frost coverage is so thick it looks like the buds were dipped in sugar. She yields respectably if your lighting and airflow are perfect, but she will absolutely punish you if your VPD is out of whack.

The bag appeal is off the charts, but the smoke is what solidified its legendary status. Animal Mints consistently tests in the high 20s to low 30s for THC. The flavor is a crazy complex blend of sweet, raw cookie dough mixed with a sharp, herbaceous mint and a back-end of gassy vanilla. Taking a rip feels like eating a mint chocolate chip cookie in a gas station parking lot. The high is devastatingly strong, kicking off with an intense cerebral rush that slowly melts your entire body into the couch. It's connoisseur-grade smoke through and through, and a mandatory run for anyone serious about pheno hunting.

Growing Animal Mints: what to expect

As an indica-leaning plant, expect a modest stretch after the flip (roughly 50–100%) and dense bud structure — which makes late-flower humidity discipline the main risk: keep RH in the 40s once buds fatten to stay ahead of mold. Growers familiar with Animal Cookies or SinMint Cookies will recognize much of its behavior. Whatever the listing says, the cut in YOUR tent is the ground truth: log feedings, readings, and photos, and let the trends — not the label — drive decisions.
